This has been bugging me for a while, and the comments this post is getting are annoying. Im all for gay rights too, both Steff and I are. But do you actually think Disney is going to make a gay couple? I hope they don’t either. It would cause so much controversy, people would honestly go for Disney’s throat. It would wound the company. It’s a hideously stupid idea in my eyes. Right now, we should be at that point where being gay isn’t looked twice at, but we’re not, so we can’t just do things like that. I wish people would stop complaining about it. The genders of the lovers in Disney shouldn’t exactly even be important anyway. No need to focus on that, that is not what Disney is trying to teach you.

remember when Archie comics had their introduction of a gay character, and when asked about all the people who may flip their shit they just answered “we don’t care if bigots don’t like our comics?”
yeah. It’s not as hard as you’d think to really introduce diversity. And you can prove yourself to be the better person by including a respectful depiction of different genders/sexualities/identities and not bowing to hatred or people saying things like “I’m not discriminatory, but I don’t want to see anything but heterosexual romance in my disney films.”
I hope that Disney DO introduce a gay prince or a lesbian princess in one of their movies. There’s literally NO valid reason not to feature LGBTQ characters in their filmsand it would be absolutely wonderful if Disney had a film starring a lesbian princess or a gay prince.
And I applaud Archie for saying ‘We don’t care if bigots don’t read our comics’. That’s the right attitude to have and I am SO glad they have introduced gay characters into the Archie universe
I’m also hoping to see lesbian, bisexual and hopefully transgender characters appear in Archie stories in the future. Fingers crossed on that <3
